3 Steps to build a 3D cake
It's not the size of the cake, but the time that goes into the design that is the biggest factor.
We encourage you to bring pictures or some rough sketches when you come to your cake tasting appointment.
I use this method to create a three dimensional cake. First, I sketch out my subject matter on parchment paper in actual size. The subject matter needs to be studied for accuracy by pulling information from the computer or by books. This is calculated into the cost because it involves time.
Next, I cut the cake out using the parchment paper sketch, and use it like a template by placing it underneath cake on top of the table. I keep building on top of my paper template until it's completed.
Some parts are not part of the cake. I use rise krispies to form the shapes. Finish the cake with gum paste and fondant, creating more shapes and texture as needed. The final details are done with airbrush and paint brushes.
This cake took me sixteen hours to do, and it cost $750.00
